No Steam left in my Wand

Well today comes with sad news and some happy news.

I should also start this Blog with the acknowledgment that it is morning time. The red wine/beer/Bloody Mary has not been a pouring (it is before 11am in most parts of the world. I am pretty sure it is probably a bit early for a drink on a week day with no special reason).

So without a cheeky red (wine or Bloody Mary), will my blog be as humorous? Is it only me that finds me funny?

Hmmm well as I can not really hear your thoughts, I will just imagine that you all agreed/nodded at the first part of that sentence, the bit where you do find me funny.

Ok on with the Blog.

The sad news.

It started this morning with the Mad Scientist (the wife) being up before everyone else and coming back to the bedroom where I was in the usual morning process of trying to get the body to function and move to enable flight from the bed.

The pre-flight checks.

Wiggle toes, get circulation going into the legs. Tense calves and get that blood flowing. Quick ten reps of pelvic floor exercises to keep things under my control.

Moving up to the fingers wiggling, moving my neck around and see if my body is giving me hints of pushing it too hard the day before.

Then the more intense checks, moving the brain from – “I should sleep for another 4 hours to have the will power to be awake” to “get out of bed you lazy bum”. One of the common tricks I use to make this is happen is to think about the first morning coffee. The double shot latte.

And this brings me back to the Mad Scientist. She looks sad and frustrated combined. I am not sure why, we had a good weekend, we went to sleep happy, well I thought we did.

“The Coffee machine has a service error on it”. What!! How can this be!!  Have you reset it I ask, she has told me she has done her Scientist tests but it is still not working.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

My people, my fellow readers, that is the Sad news. DEVASTATING NEWS. This village is ruined (ok it is just a house, but still – a bit of theatrics never hurts)

Is that it, is that where this story will end – fear not my fellow readers we have a part two, just that it might have had a bit of a pause in the making……

The good news

Well I was meant to type this later that day, however I got distracted/life got in the way/I was stuffed.

I have jumped into the DeLorean (for all of those Back to the Future fans) and travelled back in time to finish this post off.

The good news was that I managed to find a service guide online, identify the faulty part (a steam wand for the Breville Oracle Coffee Machine) or “the wand of steam”.

I found the part locally at a wand shop, drove up and purchased the magical “wand of steam”. Read and followed the 18 part steps in the spell book (i.e. the service manual) but not before adding in two extra steps they missed. Perhaps this was to throw off any new magicians. Then hey presto I had replaced the “wand of steam”.

The “Oracle” was all knowing on how to make a coffee again. The village was free and happy again.

And back to reality

The only issue was, the running around, mental thought process and the doing part, left me absolutely stuffed by 8:30 at night, I went to bed early and did not finish this blog.

So I am typing this when?

Reality, it is now a week into the future. I just have the technical ability to make my blogs appear on whatever future or past date I am after – so no real time machine.

On that, if anyone has a time machine though, please let me know as it would be good to head into the future and find a few cures for things and bring them back to today.
