Is NED staying?

Well it was scan day last Wednesday. The scans are now every four months. A visit to Yoda on Thursday. Then saw the Teddy Bear (Oncologist) on Friday to get the results.

Ohh I have not explained who Yoda is! I will write another blog later with more detail. For now though Yoda is my psychologist. No I am not cray cray (well no more than any other time in my life – yes I still hear you and can see your judgment as you read – ok I can’t as that would be creepy!!).

I have chosen the name Yoda as she is enlightening and makes me reframe the way I am thinking about things and keeps me from the dark side (“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering” – no – she has not told me that, it is a Star Wars quote from Yoda!!). The name was picked based on the wisdom and insightfulness along with a shared appreciation of Star Wars.

And the answer is?

Ohh I have rambled again, you are probably going “for ##### sake what are the results?” – well they are the same as before. No Evidence of Disease (NED).

“NED is still in da house”.

This of course is awesome news as my life continues on without a new major unwanted drama.

Now I could sign off – but I won’t – as I will give a quick update on what I have I been up to for the last four months.  I am now more accustomed to NED and the issues he brings with his on-going stay.

Does NED have a bad trait?

Yes NED has some bad traits. The key downside is fatigue. This has probably been the hardest one to accept and the most impact to life. The main reason is that I have always been physically active and could normally go from unfit to ok fit in a matter of few short weeks (not stupid fit – I know I was not an athlete but fit enough).

Now my body has more of a payback system. I can push it for a day or so and appear like life is normal and put on a brave face walking up a steep hills etc. I will then owe my body three or so days of rest. The recovery takes longer the more days in a row I do not take it easy!!

I have had to change my approach to life now and am being a little more sensible with a “balanced” approach. Not push it too hard if I do not have to. This seems to be working better and I have been accepting it as the new me.

I am still testing/pushing my body/trying new things which I will write on another day. Time to sign off so for the night so I can catchup on what has been happening with the Mad Scientist after her busy day in her new secret lab!!
